Summer 2010
It Was A Familiar Litany
Within all of earth's creations
Lies imagination and illusion
Free power of anything or being
Caressing all our hopes and feelings
Intertwined with the things we long
Like moments soaring up beyond...
Until...
A distasteful world rise above
Governing the things we once love
Keeping imagination under reign
Hence claiming wishful thinking a sin
...It's called reality
Where imagination and illusion
Are well known enemies
Best to adapt than get left behind
'cause with reality
God made something called time

Ann the noise maker
Ann was the loudest girl in class. On Thursday morning the
form teacher Mr. Trotman told the class to walk with a favorite item for show
and tell. Every-one got excited, especially Ann, she knew just the right item
to bring. She walked out of the school gates with a big smile on her face,
looking forward to surprising her classmates the next day.
On Friday morning the students came prepared with their
favorite items. Ann was so excited she asked the teacher if she could present
first, and so Mr.Trotman said yes. Ann skipped her way to the front of the room
and held onto her toy drum. Before the teacher said she could begin she kept
beating and beating the drum. Her classmates were very annoyed but Ann
kept on making noises anyway. Nate the class bully shouted “It’s an awful noise
Ann. No one wants to hear!” He kissed his teeth at her. Ann felt very sad and
ran back to her seat. She hid her face in her palms and refused to talk to
anyone. All the other children were quiet. They did not know if Nate was right
for being mean to Ann, because she never seems to care about being mean to
others.
Ann kept quiet in her chair until the form teacher brought Nate over and told him to apologize. Ann was deeply hurt and sad. “I’m very sorry Ann, said Nate.” Ann looked up at him. She did not want to forgive him but she remembered that sometimes she can also be very mean to others, so she decided to apologize. “I’m also very sorry Nate” she whispered. Everyone smiled while Nate gave her a big hug. He had forgiven her for all the times she had ever disrupted the class, and she had forgiven him for being unkind and disrespectful.

Once upon a cheerful Christmas
There is something special about Christmas when everyone would
lend a cheer, this would occur all over the world, even in the land of fairy
tale. If you would please listen I would welcome all who dare, into the land of
mystery, the land of fairy tale.
We lived in a small village in a house made of five: So there
was Baby Amanda, Grandma Philly, Mom and Dad and let’s not forget me. If you
are wondering who I am, I will surely introduce myself and tell you all about
my family on Christmas in a land few dare to dwell.
Hi, my name is Emma, also known as Amanda’s big sister. I am
eleven years old and I believe there is something absolutely amazing about
Christmas.
In Never Ever Land Christmas is celebrated for twelve days,
for each day of Christmas, all the members of each family would have specific
chores to do.
Let’s start with Dear old Grandma,
Grandma Philly would do the baking. Her cakes are popular in
demand. She would start on Christmas Eve and end whenever she can. She would
whip out her big white mixing bowl and bake some of the finest cakes, various
flavors and sizes, various colours and shapes. There would be chocolate, vanilla
and rainbow to name a few, my favorite was definitely the chocolate. It was the
tastiest of all too;
Then there is mum and dad- the caretakers of the family
Mum would do most of the cooking; dad would do most of the
watching. While mum is preparing the main dishes such as the macaroni pie, the
rice and the ham, Dad would work on the salads to please our cousin Sam. No one
really cared too much for anything but the ham. There was something very enchanting
about it, something that caused a high demand. Like the chocolate cake, the ham
was also very popular. A slice would be prepared for everyone, the neighbors,
the pastor, even the uninvited visitors.
I bet you are wondering what I do for Christmas, well I am most
definitely the cheer. On Christmas Eve I would offer my love to those who only
dared, I would walk, I would skip, I would prance. All around the house I would
perform a merry dance. My job was to make sure everyone was in their best mood.
Never losing a smile from their faces,
except when gobbling down their food. I would greet aaaaall of our
visitors, I would offer them a plate they
would stick around for hours before it is too late.
Now it’s time to come to a close, I think we are forgetting
someone though... It’s baby Amanda! But I think we all know what she does for
Christmas, but just in case you don’t, let me tell you. Baby Amanda would wake
giggling, gurgling and laughing she was among the happiest of all. She was the
most helpful baby even though she was so small. She would bring cheer and joy
day by day to all in fairy tale land, until the next year when it comes back
around and she could do the best she can.
Now it’s time to close, i had much to say, thanks for lending
a listening ear, to learn about my family and friends in the land that is
filled with cheer.
